I was able to go an visit the German submarine U-505 at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. This Type IXC submarine was laid down in 1940 and launched in 1941 in Hamburg, Germany. It was captured in 1944 in the Atlantic as part of a daring attempt by the sailors of the USS Chatelain to capture an enemy submarine. Some pictures of mine are below.
